Rezoning decisions for two Turin/ Sharpsburg proposed developments are on the agenda for Tuesday's meeting of the Coweta County Board of Commissioners.
The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be held in the county commission chambers on Perry Street in downtown Newnan.
The commissioners are set to decide on the two proposals near the intersection of Ga. Hwys. 16 and 54.
One proposal in the Turin area is for a commercial rezoning for a shopping center. The shopping center will be connected to a medium-density subdivision along Neely Road.
There is also a request to zone property north of the old town Sharpsburg business district near the intersection of Lower Fayetteville Road and Ga. Hwy. 154 commercial for a grocery store, gas pumps, carwash, public storage, and automotive service business.
Public hearings on the proposals were held Thursday. Area residents came out strongly against all three.
Other items to come before the board include:
* A decision on a conditional use permit to operate a transitional home at 1590 Macedonia Road. The building on that property formerly housed Heavenly Laughter Daycare Center. The applicant, Edith Byrd, proposes a home that will provide both temporary and long-term housing to offer structure and discipline for girls 11 to 17. All residents will come from the juvenile court system, and the facility will have a maximum of 16 residents.
* Appointments to various boards, councils, and authorities, including the Coweta County Library System Board of Trustees.
* A decision on a buffer variance related to the Lower Fayetteville Road commercial rezoning.
* A decision on a petition to allow an alternative septic system as a replacement system for property in the Beaumont Farms subdivision.
* A decision on a buffer variance filed by Stephen McLain for property at 1840 Hwy. 154, Sharpsburg.
* A request to purchase equipment for the Coweta County Fire Department.
