The Senoia City Council made short work of a light agenda Monday night prior to heading to Dillard, Ga., this weekend for a council retreat and work session.
Among business items, approved was an expenditure of $10,484.70 to relocate the old emergency power generator from the former police headquarters on Main Street to the new location on Howard Road. Burns Electric was low bidder to physically relocate and install the equipment for $6,109.00. Atlanta Gas Light will charge $4,294.70 to run new service to the relocated generator.
Council members voted unanimously to issue certificates of appropriateness needed to perform work or improvements on three residences. Approved items included a deck on the north side of a home on Turin Street, a new awning on the residence at 158 Bridge St. and a wooden fence at 441 Pylant St.
Also approved was use of a "pattern book" created by developers of the Gin Property to serve as the basis for issuing Certificates of Appropriateness for proposed Gin Property structures. Under this arrangement, the pattern book will become the recognized set of architectural guidelines for the property.
The council heard an update from the Downtown Development Authority without comment and approved the parade route and a 9 a.m. starting time for this spring's Little League parade.
Local resident Don Rehman presented the council with information about a homestead exemption offered to senior citizens in Peachtree City and asked the council to consider such a move for Senoia.
Mayor Robert Bellisle said the agenda for this weekend's retreat is full, so he could not promise Rehman the proposal would be considered during the retreat. Bellisle promised he would study the proposal soon and get back to Rehman.
In other business, it was announced that the Resurrection Run will be held the Saturday of March 17 beginning at 8 a.m. and that Clean Up Senoia has been scheduled for April 21.
