Schedule of July 4th festivities

Friday

* 8:30 a.m. -- Moreland Community Historical Society's annual children's bicycle parade. Cash prizes. A dog walk will follow after the bike parade in Moreland.

* 9 a.m. -- Puckett Station Arts and Crafts Festival opens, Moreland. Continues to early afternoon.

* 9 a.m. -- Moreland Community Choir presents part of a Patriotic Concert during the Puckett Station Arts and Crafts Festival opening in front of the historic Moreland Mill.

* 11 a.m. -- Moreland barbecue at Lewis Grizzard Memorial Barbecue Pavilion behind Moreland Mill. Plates of pork, Brunswick stew, bread and pickles and drink are $8.

* 6 p.m. -- Newnan's "Proud to be an American" parade steps off from city park at Temple Avenue and Jackson Street and continues down Jackson and LaGrange streets, ending at Drake Stadium.

* 6:45 p.m. (Following parade) -- Newnan community celebration at Drake Stadium, organized by Newnan Rotary Club. Free admission. Leads to fireworks at dusk. Live music.

* 9:25 p.m. (dusk) -- Fireworks display at Drake Stadium.

* 7:15 p.m. -- In Grantville, David Wilson presents a one-man show about George Washington, on property across the railroad from First Baptist Church of Grantville. Admission free, but donations to the Grantville Veterans Association are appreciated.

Saturday

* 10 a.m. -- MainStreet Newnan's July 5 Market Day on the Square will be extended from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

* 11 a.m. -- Haralson's first Independence Day celebration Saturday. Children's games, pony rides, a Power Shower, display booths, and concessions leading to evening fireworks. Live music by Audra Avery.

* Noon -- MainStreet Newnan Homemade Ice Cream Festival, noon-3 p.m. Cost of ice cream $1 per bowl, and vendors will be around the Court Square.

* 6 p.m. -- Haralson patriotic parade, including vintage and show cars. For information on participating in the parade, call 770-599-8888.

* dusk -- City of Haralson presents fireworks display.
