Ten-year-old Taylor Hulsey of Newnan had a special guest last week. Santa Claus took a break in his Christmas preparations to pay a visit to the young cancer patient at her home on Cliff Payton Circle.
Hulsey, who turned 10 in August, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in February 2007.
Taylor is the daughter of Vicki Hulsey and granddaughter of Bob and Beverly Perusse.
"Christmas, the birth of our Savior, is the time to share with our family, friends and neighbors," said Vicki Hulsey. "So my daughter, Taylor, and myself, would like to thank all who have prayed, showed support and friendship during Taylor's battle with cancer."
Taylor's tumor, a glioblastoma multiforme, is rarely seen in children.
Taylor began having tremors, headaches, stomachaches and other symptoms in the fall of 2006. Doctors couldn't find a reason for the problems until the following February. Taylor had gone to the doctor with her grandmother, and her mother thought perhaps she would come home with a pair of eyeglasses.
Instead, Vicki Hulsey received a call that her daughter had a golf ball-sized tumor on her brain stem. It is the same type of tumor that Sen. Ted Kennedy is battling.
"As she, as well as your children, await the arrival of Santa, be sure to celebrate the birth of Christ," says Hulsey. "Experience the miracle of Christmas... the best gift of all. Invite Jesus into your hearts to give you new life in him.
