Newnan and Coweta area youngsters have a chance to tell their wishes in person as Santa makes his annual post-Thanksgiving stop in downtown Newnan tonight.
The visit is for the 2012 Main Street Newnan Mingle with Kringle event. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. and will be available to hear Christmas wishes until 8 p.m.
Parents are welcome to bring cameras to take a photo of their child with Santa.
Main Street is also designating Nov. 23 as Plaid Friday in downtown Newnan until 8 p.m. Plaid Friday celebrates the diversity and creativity of independent businesses, offering an alternative to big box stores’ Black Friday events. Wear plaid at participating businesses and receive a gift, Gentry said.
Visit www.mainstreetnewnan.com or call 770-253-8283 for more information on Newnan’s holiday events.
Santa will also make an appearance in the city of Newnan Christmas Parade Dec. 2. It begins at 3 p.m. at the city park at Temple Avenue and Jackson Street and will continue on Jackson, through the Court Square and out LaGrange Street to Newnan High School.
For parade registration, contact Snider or Wendy LaRotonda at City of Newnan at 770-253-2682 - extension 203 or 228, or go to www.ci.newnan.us.ga and download an application. Applications must be received by Monday.
A portion of the parade entry fees this year support the Georgia Municipal Association’s Mayor’s Motorcade event to provide holiday gifts to those in the state’s mental hospitals.
