Do you think the City of Newnan should have waited until at least mid-month to begin hanging its Christmas decorations in downtown rather than the first week in November?

Officials at Piedmont Newnan Hospital said the decision by Cancer Treatment Centers of America to locate a new regional cancer treatment facility in Newnan does not affect their plans to proceed with the construction of the new Piedmont Newnan Hospital.
"While CTCA has made its decision to locate in Coweta County, Piedmont Newnan Hospital stands firm in its commitment to take care of our community's healthcare needs, both now and in the future," said Michael Bass, Piedmont Newnan President and CEO.
"As a not-for-profit community hospital, we will provide comprehensive health care services and reinvest our resources for the ultimate benefit of every person who entrusts us with his or her care. We will continue to plan for the future of health care in Coweta and surrounding counties, as well as take care of our community members today."
The new $194 million, 136-bed Piedmont Newnan Hospital will be located on Poplar Road on the east side of I-85
When ground was broken on the new hospital in October 2008, officials hoped the new facility would open in early 2011. But construction was halted in December 2008, just six weeks after groundbreaking ceremonies at the Poplar Road site.
Construction has not yet resumed on the new facility. Hospital officials said the construction delay was caused by problems in the financial markets that resulted in higher interest rates and tighter financing for large construction projects.
Piedmont consolidated the operations of the old Newnan Hospital and the original Coweta General Hospital that was later operated by such firms as Humana and Emory at the former county-operated facilities on Hospital Road in Newnan, where it is currently serving the community.
