The Newnan Times-Herald has been named a 2012 winner of the Georgia School Boards Association Beacon Award.
Beacon Awards recognize print and electronic media representatives and organizations whose coverage over time has created understanding of public education issues by informing the public about programs, policies and/or issues affecting the public schools, students, and/or communities.
The Newnan Times-Herald was nominated for the award earlier this year by the Coweta County Board of Education.
Awards will be presented Nov. 30 during the GSBA/GSSA Conference in Atlanta.
