The city's Engineering Department would like to remind you that when doing summer projects it is important to be careful when working with concrete.
Concrete, cement, grout, stucco, plaster and mortar washout wastewater is corrosive and caustic.
Remember, most concrete companies offer sturdy washout bags or containers that may be used to contain the concrete washout. When selecting your concrete provider, consider companies that provide concrete washout methods, safe removal of the concrete, and preference should be given to those that recycle collected materials. For more information, contact the engineering department.

The city of Newnan Animal Control Officer, Cyndi Hoffman, offers advice for flea and tick prevention for pets. Since fleas and ticks lurk in tall brush and grasses, it's important to keep those lawns mowed and trim. Fleas can cause excessive scratching, hair loss, scabs, hot spots and tapeworms. Ticks can cause similar effects and lead to a variety of complications from tick-borne diseases such as Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Babesia.
When treating your animals for fleas and ticks, be sure to consult with your veterinarian about what products to use on your animal, using the wrong product can cause sickness and/or death for your pets.

Keep Newnan Beautiful addresses the question of whether or not to turn off the engine. Times have changed. The new wisdom says to turn off your engine if you will be sitting for more than 30 seconds. The best suggestion I've heard is to park the car and walk inside the fast-food joint. That way you not only save gas, you walk off a french fry or two.
