The city of Newnan Building Department has received plans for a learning center to be located in Ashley Park. Mathnasium will be located behind Best Buy. The center will be 1,200 square feet. Mathnasium is a learning center where students go year-round to boost their math skills. They teach only math. The program is for students in pre-K through 12th grade. Members pay a monthly membership fee, and usually attend once or twice a week for about an hour.
There were four new tax occupational licenses issued by the city. The businesses names are the following Bobby Reid Paving Company, Inc ., Contractor's Hauling & Services, Inc., Fantastic Sam's and Wonder Wall Photography, LLC.
A reminder for this week, the city of Newnan continues construction on the Jefferson Street project with a road closure beginning on July 21; the road will remain closed for two weeks. The road will be closed to through traffic from South Street to Jefferson Parkway. The road will re-open, regardless of progress, by the time school is back in session on Aug. 6. The road will remain open only to local traffic for access to homes and business.
Keep Newnan Beautiful wants to remind you, the city of Newnan has curbside recycling. CLM provides recycling bins to all city residents at no extra charge and encourages residents to use them. If you do not have one, contact CLM at 770-716-1899 today. CLM currently takes corrugated cardboard, all colors of glass, newspapers, aluminum and steel cans of all kinds, and plastic bottles and containers. Just rinse out the items, remove any tops or lids, and put them in the recycle bin. The city is lucky to have such a convenient way to dispose of recyclables. Be sure to take advantage of it.
In our ongoing support of our Metro Atlanta "Clean Water Campaign", the Engineering Department reminds, more than 800 of Georgia's waterways already fail federal safety regulations for toxic chemicals and cancer-causing agents. Officials statewide blame runoff from parking lots, roofs, streets and new development. Keeping stormwater pollution in mind can significantly reduce the amount of pollutants entering our streams and lakes. For more info go to www.cleanwatercampaign.com
The city of Newnan Animal Control Officer, Cyndi Hoffman offers grooming tips of the week for your feline. Does Princess disappear under the bed at the very sight of a brush? Then it's time for you to learn how to make grooming a positive experience for both of you. Approach your kitty when she's relaxed, and start with a short session--five to 10 minutes of brushing and gentle praise. To make the memory even sweeter, give kitty a yummy reward for being so well-behaved. In no time, removing the loose hair from her coat will be a fun way for you to bond with each other--and for her to lie back and reassert her royal station.

I do apologize for the personal attack. I do not, however, apologize for my feelings concerning Coweta County. I guess that our opinions of what positive growth is differ considerably. I believe that growth is a good thing when planned and controlled. I do not believe that the way the city of Newnan is annexing certain parts of the county just to suit the needs of the developers is positive. Take a look at a map of Newnan and its annexations. It has not grown symetrically, it has just followed where developers wanted to build.

Clearly the moderators don't monitor the postings here. I made a positive posting for the growth in small businesses in our community, and naive native continues to do a personal attack on me...Shameful... Native, you will not be able to stop the positive growth in our community. Those of us that own property here will prosper no thanks to you...

Nice to see there will be another place coming to Ashley Park (even though it won't be a shopping, restaurant, or entertainment venue, it's still a good thing). I hope families will be able to take advantage of this math institute for their kids.
