Mobile home destroyed in fire

By Elizabeth Richardson

The Times-Herald

Investigators don't yet know what sparked a fire in west Coweta that destroyed a single-wide mobile home Thursday afternoon.

The Coweta County Fire Department received a report about the fire at approximately 4:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Capt. Chuck Loftin. The fire was blazing at 190 Lake Circle, located off Welcome to Arnco Road. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the mobile home, which belonged to Donald Bowles, was 90 percent engulfed in flames.

Nine trucks -- from stations 1, 2, 6 and 8 -- responded with 14 firefighters, but the property was ultimately a total loss, according to Loftin. The fire also damaged an abandoned car on the property. Units worked until 6 p.m. extinguishing the fire.

No one was injured in the fire. The incident remains under investigation.
