Liquid Propane Truck Accident Closes Road Wednesday

by Wes Mayer

A truck carrying liquid propane tipped over on Gordon Road this morning, and a segment of the road was closed while emergency responders and wrecker crews worked to upright the vehicle.

This morning, Gordon Road in Moreland was closed to traffic between Martin Mill Road and Tabby Lynch Road. Around 9:20 a.m., a Gas Incorporated liquid propane truck had an accident on Gordon Road after the driver ran off the road, appeared to overcorrect and flipped the vehicle on the driver’s side. The truck came to a stop facing westbound toward Martin Mill Road.

Emergency personnel with the Coweta County Fire Department and Coweta County Sheriff’s Office responded along with emergency medical personnel. The driver of the truck was not seriously injured but was transported to Piedmont Newnan Hospital for treatment, said Fire Captain Robby Flanagan with the fire department.

Southside Wrecker Service crews arrived on scene with their heavy rescue truck, and were able to successfully lift the truck and place it upright by noon.
