Do you think the City of Newnan should have waited until at least mid-month to begin hanging its Christmas decorations in downtown rather than the first week in November?

Lightning sparks home fire near Senoia

By Elizabeth Richardson

The Times-Herald

Scattered thunderstorms disrupted areas of Coweta County Wednesday evening, and in at least one instance a lightning strike sparked a fire in a home near Senoia.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., lightning struck the residence located at 60 Tudor Way off Rockaway Road near Senoia, according to Deputy Chief Bill Haynes of the Coweta County Fire Department.

Engine 10 from Senoia responded to the scene and found flames coming from the roof of the two-story home.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, mostly containing it to the attic.

Haynes estimates that half the residence was damaged or destroyed by the combination of fire and smoke.
