UGA to honor 'Walking Dead' producer

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – The University of Georgia is set to honor Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer of "The Walking Dead" with an award highlighting distinguished service in broadcasting. School officials say Hurd will be honored at the DiGamma Kappa awards banquet March 19 for innovation in trans-media storytelling. Hurd - who also produced and co-wrote "Terminator," "Aliens" and other box office hits - is set to serve as the event's keynote speaker, and will be featured in a public discussion before the banquet. The American Film Institute has honored "The Walking Dead" on AMC as a top 10 television program in 2010 and 2012, and with an average of 12 million viewers the show is America's most-watched scripted television drama.
