Did you know that now five states in the U.S. allow for medical marijuana patients to legally buy pot in retail dispensaries after Maine became the fifth state when its referendum passed Tuesday?

Five people were arrested at a home on Pinson Street after the Newnan Police Department received numerous complaints from concerned citizens about illegal drug activity on the premises.
The arrests were made Thursday night. According to City Drug Unit Investigator Denver Atwood, officers executing a search warrant at the residence around 8:15 p.m. discovered crack cocaine and marijuana at the scene. Crack pipes were also found.
Priscilla Ann Gates, 45, Erica Nichole Newell, 23, Darius Lynn Phillips, 32, Benjamin Teagle, 50 and Norman Lee Gates, 44, were arrested for possession with intent to sell. Newell -- also wanted for violation of probation -- received an additional charge, according to authorities.

Why complain when the police do good...We now have a street level drug unit and a joint effort unit that hits the larger level dealers...Why are you complaining about the cost...It's worth the cost to keep it out of childrens hands and away from famlies homes....

It seems there are always drug busts going down in this neighborhood. Seems like the parents would be more aware than they are.

Being the local street corner pharmaceutical sales representative is a "real job"; it's just not legal in the eyes of the establishment. Let's tax the sales and negate the ill-gotten gain aspect of the product and we will all benefit. With that said you must appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit of these individuals; kind of reminds me of a small time Enron executive.

I see the small mindnesses of the Local people in Newnan. no matter how many years pass by and the niave of the people in Newnan, so if you really think and are foolish enough to think your child can not buy from the big man, think again. This is just like the so called War on Terriorism, keep attacking the smal guys Newnan and the problem will keep resurfacing. The big guys pay for the smaller guys and the cyle continues on. Stop fooling yourselves.

As always the great Newna Drug Team keeps getting the small man and nothing is happening to the suppliers. This is a good start but Newnan polices realizes who the Big Dogs are. The trouble is if they get the Big DOgs off the street then they can't finance their own agendas. Let's be real and use the Newnan taxpayers money to the best measures possible. It is good to keep the nickel and dimes guy off the street and not rehab them. This has been operating for quite a few years and let look at the situation from a new perspective. The same old system needs to change sometimes. Hooray, Hooray for the Drug Unit.

May be the Newnan Police can give some pointers to the Sheriffs office on how this "warrant and arrest" thing works. You only hear of drug arrests from traffic stops in the county. Can any one tell me if the Sheriff's office has to go to a different judge to get these warrants? maybe it's the judges not letting these search warrants though in the county?
