Firefighters respond to calls on Hines Road, Westport Place

By Elizabeth Richardson

The Times-Herald

The Coweta County Fire Department battled frigid temperatures overnight Thursday as they responded to two fire calls.

Late in the evening, around 10 p.m., firefighters responded to Hines Road near Luthersville to what was dispatched as a chimney fire. The fire was found to be contained and did not spread to the surrounding structure.

Later in the evening, firefighters were called to investigate a structure fire at 121 Westport Place. On the scene, firefighters learned that a dog house had caught fire -- resulting in a total loss -- which also spread and did damage to the rear of the primary residence on the property. The fire was extinguished quickly.

A spokesperson for the fire department reported minimal exterior fire damage to the residence's vinyl siding and window. The house was ventilated because of light smoke throughout.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
