DeAnna Pappas to host TV show offering tips for planning weddings

By Amy Lott

The Newnan Times-Herald

While a wedding wasn't in the cards for Newnan's own DeAnna Pappas -- former star of ABC's reality television dating series "The Bachelorette" -- she will soon be helping other brides walk down the aisle in a new small screen gig.

Beginning Jan. 5, Pappas will be co-host for Lifetime network's "Get Married," a show that covers all things wedding-related.

Along with host Colin Cowie -- a designer, style arbiter and author of numerous wedding books -- Pappas will be offering planning tips and trends for the big day, as well as blogging on the "Get Married" online bridal community site, www.BloggerBrides.com . Episodes will air weekdays at 7:30 a.m.

On the show's Web site -- www.getmarried.com -- Pappas said, "In 2007, my life path changed dramatically after I decided to audition for a reality show. I then found myself on two seasons of network television in search of true love. Although my efforts were not successful I remain optimistic about finding my Mr. Right and having the wedding of my dreams some day. I have been there for plenty of my friends and family on their wedding days. Offering my help, support, and advice to help make their day truly the most memorable event of their lives. I am looking forward to enjoying my very own special wedding one day."

Pappas called off her engagement to "The Bachelorette winner, Jesse Csincsak, in November and reportedly donated her ring to charity. She was famously rejected by Brad Womack in 2007 on "The Bachelor" before landing her own reality show role.

Single Seattle Dad Jason Mesnick, Pappas' runner-up on "The Bachelorette," begins his stint as "The Bachelor" when the ABC romance series' 13th installment begins with a two-hour special Jan. 5 at 8 p.m.

Jason and Deanna are Perfect for each other

You women are harsh! Relationships are hard. Finding the right person is not easy. Give the woman a break. I think she is genuine. What you see is what you get, I don't think that her feelings for Jessie, or for Jason were made up. I think she had a difficult choice and she made the wrong one. I predict that she and Jason will end up together; I think they were made for each other. She made a mistake. Whether Jason allows her back into his life, or he holds onto stubborn pride is up to him. When watching last season I was convinced they were the perfect couple and was SHOCKED when she picked Jessie. He was such a child, although a sweet and kindhearted one, he was an infant.

This is I think is going on. DeAnna Pappas will present to Jason, she will help with his wedding. Nothing more, even if they might have some feelings for eachother. Jason will find his wife on the show.

You already hurt Jason once, so please do not do it again! And I am so sorry for Jesse, too. I'm thinking both of these sweet men were too good for you. How many hearts do you plan to break in front of the whole world? You need to do some real soul searching, sister!

Like so many people, I too fell for DeAnna's outgoing personaltiy and terrific looks. Truely getting hooked on the Hollywood scene wouldn't seem so far fetched. By the same token when you start giving advise in such a serious emotional change, such as marriage, you're playing with peoples lives. That's a hugh reponsibility for even the well qualified professionals. This isn't a game, it's someones life and future.

Marriage advice, a mirage

1/3/2009

Link To This Comment

DeAnna is very pretty and she like anyone else, had a right to break up or be with anyone who will give her the life she wants. This makes her at the moment, an expert in breaking up relationships, not building or sustaining them. What possible counsel could she give to prospective brides about marriage? My understanding is that her cohost, Colin Cowie, who has excellent credentials for this role will give the actual "event planning" tips and DeAnna will give marriage advice. This is a joke and a pretty bad one at that. These two are "unevenly yoked" to put it mildly. As I stated, I have no issue with her having broken her engagement with what I think was an adorable, handsome and loving young man. By doing so, even if it was not her intent, she actually gave Jesse a gift. In public, DeAnna was mean, rude cold and disrespectful towards him. This should never happen in anyone's relationship. My concern is that there will be people contacting "Getting Married," who truly need and deserve good relationship advice From DeAnna, they can't get it. She has no life experience and lacks relationship building skills herself. DeAnna's traits of being beautiful, articulate, rude and moody, will serve her well in Hollywood. However, what your "Getting Married," fans may seek from her will not be marriage advice, but a mirage.

Sometimes not being able to fully open a window opens a door. DeAnna has wonderful film presence and I think she is a perfect choice to co-host Lifetime's "Get Married." I look forward to reading about her future successes.

...always a bridesmaid, never a bride. Look, I think DeAnna is cute girl I don't know her. What I do know is girls like her could probably have any man they wanted (she just must have used up the locals? and had to go Nationwide). Personally, I think she wasn't really interested in marriage and that is why she picked the "ugly" guy. Her cohost should be the first guy that dumped her..equal shallowness. I hope she says she is from ATL and not Newnan.

I am soooo not impressed. She picked the wrong guy, now we have to continue to hear about her. She is not that attractive, nor have that much of a personality, so why in the world do we need to continue to see her. I agree, it won't last just like the guy didn't. She needs to get a real job without the theatrics.

I'll be glad when her 15 minutes of fame go away. She's only wanting attention and she's already gotten way too much of it for doing nothing. I wish she'd quit telling people she's from Newnan. If she was rich and blonde, she could be Paris Hilton #2. Sickening!

Why can this girl not be an event planner, that is what a wedding is. So what if she has not been married. Sounds to me she has been practicing this event since she was a little girl. Good Luck DeAnna...

Really, how can you give advice on weddings? You caleed off yours because you really wanted to become a star anyway. I guess what they said was true. She went to Hollywood not for love but for discovery. That really is tacky.

Susan, I totally agree with you! She's so fake, and I wish she would just go away. She is such a disgrace to Newnan. There is more important things going on in the news, quit freaturing her on times-herald. This is exactly why this newspaper is horrible.

She used any and everyone to get her foot in the door to fame. She is a joke. I do not watch the show because they all act as if they are desperate. It is rediculous when we all know the real reason they are on there is not to find true love but to get their names out there weather it be for the sake of being famous or money. She will be forgotten.

How can a woman who has never experienced a wedding of her own offer legit advice to someone else. I would prefer someone who has actually "been there" to rely on.
