The Interstate 85 ramps for people traveling to and from Atlanta from Bullsboro Drive will be closed at night next week.
The northbound on-ramp and southbound off-ramp will close at 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The ramps will reopen each weekday morning at 5 a.m. On Friday, the ramps will close at 9 p.m. and reopen Saturday at 9 a.m.
The northbound off-ramp will also be closed, but only for two days. The ramp will close Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m. The ramps will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday.
The Georgia Department of Transportation's detour routes send drivers to either Exit 51, McCollum-Sharpsburg Road, or Exit 41, U.S. 29 South.
However, drivers familiar with the area can find other routes using Highway 34, U.S. 29 and local roads.
The ramp closures are necessary for crews to pave the remaining lanes of the mainline and ramp tapers for I-85, said Kimberly Larson, DOT spokeswoman.
Motorists are advised to anticipate delays and to avoid travel near this area of I-85.

Wow. This is extremely important news -- yet somehow, it didn't make it into today's print edition, despite being advertised as appearing on page A3 above the headline. This is just another ridiculous lack of oversight at the Times-Herald.
