Boy, 8, struck and killed by pickup in Carrollton

CARROLLTON, Ga. (AP) – Authorities say an 8-year-old child crossing the street in Carrollton has been struck and killed by a pickup truck. Police identified the child as William Randall Garrett of Carrollton. They say he was crossing the street near a crosswalk with his father when he was struck by the pickup around 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Police tell CBS Atlanta that the driver of the pickup truck is a 20-year-old Carrollton man. No charges were immediately filed after the accident.
