Boozer arrested after short chase Tuesday

Officers with the Newnan Police Department arrested a man after he fled on foot during a traffic stop Tuesday.
Newnan Police attempted to stop a red Dodge Intrepid at the intersection of Second Street and Second Avenue Tuesday. The driver took off -- leading police on a short pursuit.
After driving for approximately one mile, the driver then ran from the vehicle, and police chased him on foot. A perimeter around the block was set up, and the suspect was caught within 15 minutes.
Rodney Boozer was taken into custody. Boozer ran because he had warrants from Coweta County, according to officers on the scene. Boozer -- whose license was suspended -- failed to halt for a stop sign.
Boozer will be charged with stop sign violations, fleeing from police and obstructing an officer, according to Newnan Police Deputy Chief Rodney Riggs.
