Bell named president at Bank of Coweta

By Jeff Bishop

The Times-Herald

Anne B. Bell, a 35-year employee of Bank of Coweta, has been selected as the new president and chief operating officer of the bank.

The board of directors of Bank of Coweta elected Bell this week following the recent departure of longtime bank president Steve Stripling, who took a new job as president of United Bank.

Bell has worked in a number of different areas during her long tenure with Bank of Coweta, including branch administration, facilities management, bank operations, accounting, human resources, and compliance.

Bell currently serves on the Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity board as well as on the Bank of Coweta board of directors.

Bell is a life-long resident of Newnan and Coweta County. She is a graduate of the Louisiana State University School of Banking and the Georgia Bank Operations School.

Bell and her husband, Dennis, live in Sharpsburg and have one daughter, Lauren.

Bell was the bank representative who made the announcement, in her capacity as executive vice president, that Stripling had left Bank of Coweta "to pursue other business opportunities."

Stripling served as president of Bank of Coweta for more than a decade.

"We are encouraged by the support our board and Synovus are providing during this time of transition, and we look forward to the opportunities this creates for new leadership in our bank," Bell said at the time of Stripling's departure.

"The Bank of Coweta has been building lasting relationships with our customers and contributing our time and resources to the Newnan community for many years. That commitment remains unchanged."

Bank of Coweta is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Synovus, a financial services holding company with approximately $34 billion in assets based in Columbus, Ga.

Synovus provides commercial and retail banking, as well as investment services, to customers through 30 banks, 330 offices, and 467 ATMs in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and Tennessee.
