Fast-food workers and labor organizers are set to turn out in support of higher wages in cities across the country Thursday. Organizers say walkouts are planned in 100 cities, with rallies set for another 100 cities. ATLANTA (AP) — Fast-food employees are rallying in Atlanta to push for higher pay and the right to form a union.

Organizers with Atlanta Jobs With Justice say the group is joining workers in cities nationwide Thursday to push for salaries of $15 an hour.

Demonstrators rallied Thursday morning at a Burger King in southeast Atlanta. One worker held a sign stating "Capitalism has outlived its usefulness -- MLK."

Tina McCoy, who works at a Church's Chicken restaurant, said she thinks $15 an hour would be sufficient to live comfortably and pay bills.

Long John Silver's employee Antwon Brown says he's been working in the industry for six or seven years, and that low wages are unfair and unconstitutional.

Workers planned a march and demonstration at Cleopas R. Johnson Park at 5 p.m.
