Do you think the City of Newnan should have waited until at least mid-month to begin hanging its Christmas decorations in downtown rather than the first week in November?

Real estate may be slow, but Newnan favorite son Alan Jackson has put his Tennessee mansion and spread on the market.
According to a Tuesday story that appeared in The Tennessean, the Jackson home -- for sale for $38 million -- is "the highest priced residential property for sale in the Nashville area."
Jackson and his wife, Denise, both grew up in Newnan. Their mothers and several siblings still live in the local area.
Sweetbriar, the Jacksons' 18,622-square-foot home, is built in a Southern plantation style with an imposing central portico. Wings on either side of the house also have large porches, and one side features a porte-cochere.
The Jacksons' 135-acre tract is located near Franklin in Williamson County outside Nashville. The house -- which has six bedrooms and seven baths -- was built in 1997.
The elegant home includes a projection room and a gymansium/ recreation area. There is a large outdoor area for barbecuing, and a verdant area spreading toward a lake is seen from the home.
Several outbuildings are on the property including a rustic log cabin guest house, a boathouse and a large white, meticulously kept barn.
Alan Jackson has been a professional entertainer for more than 20 years. It was recently announced that he will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year, and he shared a CMT Award with Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley and George Strait at the Nashville awards ceremony a few weeks ago.
Denise Jackson, an inspirational writer, is the author of "The Road Home" and "It's All About Him."

I have met the Jacksons and their kids. The kids are very well mannered and still do chores. So I guess they will survive. And who knows maybe they will get a little money from daddy when they move into the real world.

It would be good-natured to rent out the place for a horse camp for kids summer school trip.

If they worked for it and can pay to live in it then more power to him and Denise. I just feel sorry for the boy's who date his daughters and try to provide for them in the standard to which they are use to living in!!

While I sure enjoy Alan's music - come on - $38 million. Do you really need a 20 car garage? Most of us are doing well if we can afford one car.
