Marijuana crop found on Bill Cline Road

Some 220 marijuana plants valued at $2,000 each were found off Bill Cline road on Wednesday. 


A crop of marijuana plants was seized after being discovered in Coweta County by helicopter on Wednesday.

According to Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday it was Coweta’s turn to be visited by the Governor’s Task Force/ Drug Suppression unit. Using helicopters and operating in conjunction with the sheriff’s office, a field of 220 marijuana plants was sighted off of Bill Cline Road near the Heard County line.

The GTF is composed of six state and four federal agencies and seeks to locate and prosecute marijuana cultivation operations in Georgia. Since 2011, the GTF has seized more that 95,000 marijuana plants and more that 300 illegal weapons at a total value of $4,764,554.65.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the plants seized on Wednesday were valued at $2,000 each ($440,000 total). There were no suspects or arrests for growing the marijuana, and the plants will be destroyed, Yarbrough said.
