A man and woman were arrested on U.S. Highway 29 north of Newnan Thursday after methamphetamine was found in their possession.

Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jeff Bugg pulled over a vehicle going 71 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone near the 4800 block of U.S. Highway 29 North around 11 a.m., said Lt. Col. James Yarbrough of the sheriff’s office. Bugg asked the driver, Danielle Wilson, if he could search the vehicle and was given consent.

According to Yarbrough, upon searching Wilson’s purse, Bugg discovered about a gram of meth, a glass pipe and some hypodermic needles.

Bugg also searched the passenger, Robert Steadham, and found another pipe and another gram of meth.

The two most likely did not have intent to sell the meth, and it was for personal use, Yarbrough said. The two were charged with speeding and possession of methamphetamine and were transported to the Coweta County Jail.
