Southern Ground block party Saturday

by SARAH FAY CAMPBELL

The streets of downtown Senoia will be rocking Saturday for the Southern Ground Senoia Social, a block party benefiting country music star Zac Brown’s Camp Southern Ground charity.

The event will feature a day’s worth of live music on Main Street, plenty of food, and a kids area complete with lots of activities.

The social will begin at 1 p.m. and the music will start at 1:30.

Main Street will be closed for the event.

The Southern Ground Senoia Social is sponsored by Southern Ground and the Senoia Downtown Development Authority.

Bands will include John Driskell Hopkins, Coy Bowles and The Fellowship, Seven Handle Circus, Mama’s Love, the Best Brothers Band, Cottonwood Arthur, and more.

Food will be available from local restaurants, food vendors — and Cookie, the Zac Brown Band’s 18-wheel mobile kitchen, with Southern Ground Executive Chef Rusty Hamlin at the helm.

The kids area will feature hands-on activities for kids of all ages, including amusement rides and bounce houses, face painting, sand art and bedazzling hair-dos.

Camp Southern Ground is a project of musician Zac Brown.

The camp, located in Fayette County, will integrate kids with different backgrounds and diverse abilities, giving them an opportunity to learn and grow through customized programs provided in a positive, healthy and organic environment.
