Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell

A movie featuring major Hollywood stars will be filming in Coweta on June 3 and 4.

“Solace” stars Anthony Hopkins and Colin Farrell.

Filming will require the closure of one lane of McIntosh Trail near the intersection with Reece Road. The closure will be from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on June 3 and 9 a.m. to midnight on June 4.

“Solace” is a thriller starring Hopkins as a reclusive and retired doctor who has psychic abilities and and is recruited by an FBI agent to help track down a serial killer. The doctor used to be an ace investigator but lost his nerve after his daughter died tragically. Things take a strange twist when it is discovered the serial killer is also a psychic. There are conflicting stories online as to whether Farrell will play the FBI agent or the serial killer.

A house near the intersection will be Hopkins’ residence in the movie, said Jennifer Griffin, who appeared before the Coweta County Commissioners last week to speak about the road closure. Griffin said most of the filming for the movie will be in Atlanta.

Residents of the road will be informed of the closing, and emergency personnel will be allowed access if necessary.

Another upcoming road closure will be the closing for a potion of Dyer Road near Georgia Power’s Plant Yates for filming of AMC television series “The Walking Dead.”

The filming will be either June 3, 4, or 5, said Tray Baggarly, Coweta director of event services. Stalwart Films is “working with officials at Plant Yates as well as deputies to determine that date,” Baggarly said.
