'Walking Dead' returns to Coweta

by Sarah Fay Campbell

“The Walking Dead” has returned to Coweta County.

Filming for Season Four of the AMC television series began Monday, said Mike Riley, location manager.

Riley appeared before the Coweta County Board of Commissioners at Tuesday’s commission meeting.

“I’m glad to be back in Coweta County for Season Four,” said Riley. Filming will last through November.

“The Walking Dead,” based on the graphic novel series of the same name, is the story of groups of survivors in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.

“We will be coming to the county and the various municipalities here in Coweta County to ask your support, like you have given us in the past,” Riley said.

[We] get great support from the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office and Coweta County Fire Department, Riley said, as well as from Tray Baggarly, the county’s Camera Ready liaison, as well as the citizens of Coweta.

Coweta and its municipalities have been the primary filming locations for seasons two and three of “The Walking Dead.” Filming has taken place in Newnan, Grantville, Senoia, Haralson and Sharpsburg, as well as in various locations in unincorporated Coweta.
