Public Safety Appreciation luncheon today

by Staff Reports

Area public safety workers will be honored today at the annual Coweta County Public Safety Luncheon.

This week is Public Safety Appreciation Week, a time to let all those who work in public safety know their service to the public does not go unnoticed.

The lunch is from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Coweta County Fairgrounds.

It is the 15th annual appreciation lunch organized to honor these deserving workers.

Donations have been accepted to help pay for the luncheon, with any funds left going into the Newnan-Coweta Public Safety Benevolent Fund, said coordinator Norma Haynes of the organizing committee.

This fund has been established to help any public safety worker who has a medical or financial hardship within his family.

“Already, we have been able to aid several who are so grateful,” Haynes said. Names of donors will be displayed on every table at the luncheon.

Checks may be sent to: Newnan Coweta Public Safety, P.O. Box 1113, Newnan, GA 30264.

One of the highlights of the lunch is the table of homemade sweets donated by area individuals. These “Sweet Friends” were invited to bring baked goods to the fairgrounds for today’s lunch.

Also, local businesses and individuals are doing their part this week in showing gratitude to the men and women who serve and protect Coweta’s population by displaying “Loyal Blue” bows on mailboxes, doors and other locations.
