Binion Recognized

Newnan Utilities salutes own for 'Dancing' win

by Alex McRae

Friday’s meeting of the Newnan Water, Sewerage & Light Commission began with a Samba beat as Newnan Utilities’ Brad Binion was saluted for winning first place in this week’s Coweta’s Dancing Stars competition.

Binion’s dance partner during the event was Leigh McGuffey of Star Dance Studio, who clearly did a good job of coaching Binion though all the right moves.

Binion showed up for Friday’s city water and light commission meeting wearing — reluctantly — the sparkly shirt in which he had performed Wednesday night. To make sure he was as uncomfortable as possible,  a video of the performance by Binion and McGuffey was played on a huge flat-screen TV.

After Binion was recognized, the crew of the Wahoo Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant was recognized for winning State Plant of the Year honors in a competition between wastewater treatment facilities.

Newnan Utilities General Manager Dennis McEntire thanked Binion for his work with the community and the company and praised the Wahoo Creek team for their hard work and achievement.
