Coweta County Restaurant Inspections

The Coweta Board of Environmental Health inspects all Coweta restaurants, schools and businesses that serve food several times each year.

It was noted this week that a new restaurant was recently permitted, The Classic Cafe at 27 Jackson St. in Newnan.

Inspection reports included: 

• American Deli, 1053 Bullsboro Drive, Suite C, Newnan, was inspected April 4. Current score 96-A. Previous scores: 95-A on Sept. 27, 2012, and 94-A on Feb. 1, 2012. Inspector’s comments: Mold on lower area of deflector shield of ice machine, dried tomato on slicer.

• Benton House of Newnan Lakes, 25 Newnan Lakes Blvd., Newnan, was inspected April 2. Current score 97-A. Previous scores 92-A on Oct. 30, 2012, and 97-A on April 10, 2012. Inspector’s comments: Buildup on stove top, inside microwave. Wet stacked glasses. Dust on vent grate above freezers.

• Chin Chin, 1111 Bullsboro Drive, Suite 12, Newnan, was inspected April 4. Current score 96-A. Previous scores 97-A on Sept. 19, 2012, and 91-A on Jan. 18, 2012. Inspector’s comments: Dried particles on knives, mold on deflector shield of ice machine.

• HJ Wings & Things, 31 Market Square, Suite 101, Newnan, was inspected April 2. Current score 100-A. Previous scores 96-A on Sept. 27, 2012, and 99-A on Jan. 19, 2012. Inspector’s comments: No violations.

• Quality Inn, 40 Lakeside Way, Newnan, was inspected April 5, 2013. Current score 95-A. Previous scores N/A. Inspector’s comments: Milk cartons dated April 1, no date on boiled eggs’ container or gravy stored in refrigerator. Need sanitizer test strips.

• SummerGrove Golf Club, 335 SummerGrove Parkway, Newnan, was inspected April 1. Current score 92-A. Previous scores: 93-A on Sept. 27, 2012, and 95-A on Jan. 5, 2012. Inspector’s comments: Employee’s open cup stored on prep table. Need sanitizer in wiping cloths. Ceiling peeling back in corner.

• Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse, 101 Newnan Crossing Bypass, Newnan, was inspected April 5, 2013. Current score 95-A. Previous scores: 92-A on Aug. 29, 2012, and 93-A on Jan. 27, 2012. Inspector’s comments: Handwash sink blocked by cart, food particles in top causing it to back up. Split gaskets. Racks had buildup.

• Tomo Japanese Restaurant, 90 Glenda Trace, Suite K, Newnan, was inspected April 4. Current score 95-A. Previous scores 90-A on Aug. 23, 2012, and 90-A on Nov. 21, 2011. Inspector’s comments: Sauce in containers and thawing shrimp on drainboard for three compartment sink too close to handwash sink. Wet wiping cloths on counters, not returned to sanitizer. Gaskets split, stained, hard, need to be replaced. Ceiling tiles in bathroom stained, need to clean under and behind equipment, under racks.
