4 Fayette County schools could close

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) – Authorities say four Fayette County schools could be closed under a budget-tightening plan introduced by the school board. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the plan is aimed at addressing a $15 million budget shortfall. It has angered some parents at the four schools -- Tyrone Elementary, Brooks Elementary, Fayette Middle School and Fayetteville Intermediate School. The first of two hearings on the plan is scheduled for Thursday evening in Fayetteville. The next hearing will be Feb. 25. ---
