What you need to know about the parade
The 19th Annual Turin Antique Farm Power Show and Tractor Pull will be held Saturday in Turin, including the morning parade downtown.
The popular event will include the antique tractor parade, plenty of show tractors on display, and a day's worth of pulling events. There's also the 'slow race,' the hand-start race and the popular pedal races for kids.
Saturday's parade will begin at 10 a.m. in the business district, with the pull to follow immediately after in a nearby field. There will be food, including barbecue, hot dogs, and hamburgers, and an array of baked goods from the Order of the Eastern Star. There will be a small petting zoo, too.
And, of course, there will be the T-shirts. The shirts, which are different every year, are very popular. This year there will be a pink T-shirt, as well as the standard white and gray.
There are both stock and modified classes for the antique tractors in the pull event. The weight categories are staggered, starting with heavier tractors then moving toward the lighter ones, skipping every other category to the lightest ones, and then returning in order to the heavier tractors - with the heaviest ones on display at the end of the day.
At the show, there are awards for 'best restored,' 'most original' 'best paint' and even 'ugliest tractor.'
