Wanted man arrested after short search near hospital

by Wes Mayer

A man wanted for violating his probation was arrested by Coweta and Newnan authorities Wednesday afternoon after a short search in the woods off Poplar Road.

Around 3:15 p.m., authorities with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Piedmont Newnan Hospital about an argument in the parking lot, said Lt. John Kennedy with the sheriff’s office. When deputies arrived, they met with the victim, who told them she got into an argument with her friend, Victor Warner, 22, and he walked away with her car keys.

After checking for Warner in the system, authorities found he had an active warrant for violating his probation, Kennedy said, and he was last reported seen walking across Poplar Road into the woods around the area of Lakeshore Apartments.

According to Kennedy, a perimeter was set up around the area, and Newnan Police officers assisted in the search. After a short time, Warner was found in a patch of the woods and was arrested for his violation of probation. He was then transported to the Coweta County Jail.
