Goodwill Family and Friends Day Sept. 6

The Goodwill store on Highway 34 East at Thomas Crossroads will be hosting a Community Family and Friends Day Sept. 6.

The event will run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Goodwill Retail Store and Career Center across from the Kroger at Thomas Crossroads. The address is 3121 Highway 34E, Newnan, GA 30265. Families and job seekers are invited for food, fun, prizes and job opportunities at the Goodwill center, said Carol Ann Fields, district manager of Goodwill Career Services.

The free community day for Newnan-area families and job seekers will feature employers seeking new team members as well as community groups including Amerigroup, Communities in Schools, Piedmont Healthcare and Community Welcome House that will provide resources and prizes for giveaways.

Members of the community are invited to visit the career center to see the services Goodwill offers job seekers, including veterans. The Frigid Frog will provide icy drinks for children and a bouncy house and food will also be onsite. Goodwill’s mission is to help people with disabilities or disadvantages secure sustainable employment through education, training, work experience and career placement services.

All of these programs, including job fairs, are made possible through the donation of gently used clothing and household goods that are sold at Goodwill Retail Stores.
