Coweta County Investigators Jason Wood and Kyle Vaughn search the vehicle involved in a pursuit and crash early Tuesday. The motor of the vehicle detached after the vehicle collided with a tree.

Coweta County authorities are still investigating a case where numerous stolen items were found inside and around the wreckage of a vehicle early Tuesday.

The vehicle was involved in a short car chase on Happy Valley Circle with a Coweta County Sheriff’s Office deputy early in the morning. During the chase, the male driver lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road around the 1400-block and collided with a tree at high speed. The male suspect was able to flee on foot after the crash, but a female passenger was taken into custody, said Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the sheriff’s office.

At present, investigators are still trying to figure out where all the stolen property came from, Yarbrough said. Some of the items include fraud cases and stolen firearms, and investigators have determined the firearms are from Fulton County.

The Newnan Times-Herald will provide more details on this story as it develops.
