Tonight's 'Screen on the Green' postponed

by Celia Shortt

UPDATE: Tonight's Screen on the Green First Friday Event has been postponed, and rescheduled for Friday October 3rd.

It is the interest of Main Street Newnan and Southern Outdoor Cinema’s to always place public safety first, and we look forward to hosting this great event again when the conditions are favorable.

Due to the weather forecast, Main Street Newnan’s Screen on the Green outdoor movie planned for tonight may be rescheduled.

Main Street Manager Courtney Collins said the Friday evening forecast includes a 40 to 50 percent chance of thunderstorms. If the chance of a storm increases to above 50 percent, the event will be canceled.

Collins is encouraging everyone to check before heading to the event.

“Visitors who are interested in attending the First Friday Screen on the Green Event this afternoon should check mainstreetnewnan.com, or the Main Street Newnan Facebook page to follow the progress of the weather,” she said. “In the case that the event should be canceled, it will be rescheduled.”

Updates will also be on The Newnan Times-Herald’s website - times-herald.com.

If held, Friday’s Screen on the Green will feature a free showing of the movie “Rio 2” at First Avenue Park, beginning at 8 p.m. It is part of August’s First Friday event, which is scheduled to feature live music from Andy Lees. Lees is a singer and songwriter and will be performing on the Court Square from 5 to 8 p.m.
