The man suspected of robbing a barbecue restaurant in LaGrange just more than a year ago has finally been arrested in Auburn, Ala.
The suspect, James Christopher Jenkins, 43, of Auburn, is now being held in the Lee County Jail and is waiting to be extradited to Troup County. According to Deputy Stewart Smith with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office, after Troup authorities received a “very credible” tip relating the year-old robbery earlier this week, authorities with the Auburn Police Department were able to locate and arrest Jenkins, who was charged with armed robbery.
Jenkins is suspected of entering Hog Heaven, a barbecue restaurant at 2240 West Point Rd., on July 25, 2013.
The robber in the incident drew a handgun, pointed it at the cashier and demanded money from the register, Smith said. The suspect then fled the area with an undetermined amount of cash.
According to Smith, after the suspect’s image appeared in the media and on social media websites, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office received numerous tips, and Troup County Sheriff James Woodruff said he is thankful for the public which provided information to help bring the case to a close.
