Driver Injured in Wreck with Tractor Trailer

by Wes Mayer

A driver was injured Sunday afternoon after colliding with a tractors trailer on the interstate.

The Coweta County Fire Department responded to the accident on mile-marker 47 around 6 p.m., said Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Denney. Seven personnel arrived in Truck 1, Rescue 1, Engine 1 and Car 2 to find the driver’s vehicle lodged underneath a tractor trailer.

According to Denney, the driver was helped out of the vehicle by an off-duty nurse, but still suffered from multi-system trauma. The patient was then transported to Atlanta Medical Center by ground ambulance.

Units were on scene for around an hour, and there were no injuries to any other drivers or fire personnel.
