Fireworks dazzle at Drake

alt

The weather cooperated fully this year as hundreds of Coweta residents packed the stands and field at Newnan High’s Drake Stadium for the annual 4th of July fireworks.

The fireworks display is sponsored by Newnan Rotary Club, in conjunction with the city of Newnan, Coweta County, Coweta County Schools and Newnan/ Coweta businesses as a gift to the whole community.

Attendees enjoyed live music by Doug Kees along with special guest BigCity Brian Wright, a Newnan pilot who is also a country music artist.

Also attending as emcees were State Rep. Lynn Smith and UWG Newnan Center Director Cathy Wright.

The Men of Cornerstone also provided rousing renditions of Service songs from the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard along with a medley of patriotic songs before the countdown to the fireworks began.

The twenty minute extravaganza provided a wide variety of fireworks that lit up the sky for not only the attendees at Drake Stadium, but also for those lucky enough to catch a glimpse of them from various vantage points around Newnan.
