The driver and a passenger in the white Honda and a passenger in the pickup were airlifted to Atlanta hospitals following a crash Thursday on Hwy. 16 East.

Update: A young mother was on life support at Atlanta Medical Center Friday afternoon, following a head-on collision Thursday.

Kristen "Hannah" Hobbs, 20, of Senoia, was driving a Honda Passport on Hwy. 16 East when her vehicle was struck from the rear. The glancing blow sent her vehicle across the center line and into the path of an oncoming Ford F-150.

Hobb's 2-year-old daughter was in the backseat of the vehicle, and Hobb's 13-year-old sister was in the front passenger seat. The 2-year-old has been released from the hospital. Georgia State Trooper T.J. Hamilton could not confirm that Hobbs' sister had been released from the hospital but did say that she was going to be ok.

The Ford F-150 was driven by Donald White of Newnan. White was taken to Tanner Medical Center, and has been released. White's passenger, Telisha Gonzalez of Newnan, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center, but has since been released.

Five people – three adults and two children – were injured and transported to Atlanta hospitals after a head-on traffic accident on East Highway 16 Thursday afternoon.

Around 12:47 p.m., the Coweta County Fire Department was dispatched to the 2000-block of East Highway 16, near Martin Mill Road, in reference to a motor vehicle accident with possible entrapment, according to Assistant Fire Chief Scott Harmon. They found two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision and a box truck was off the road. Five occupants were injured and one patient, the driver of a Honda sports-utility vehicle, was entrapped in one of the vehicles.

A total of 10 firefighters responded in Engine 3, Truck 1, Rescue 1 and Cars 2, 4 and 703.

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol were also dispatched to investigate the accident. According to Tracey Watson with the Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred after the driver of the box truck, Devin McAdams, 28, struck a Honda in the rear while traveling westbound on Highway 16. This caused the Honda to travel across the center line and collide with a Ford F-150 head-on.

McAdams refused treatment and was charged with following too closely, Watson said.

According to Harmon, units were able to extricate the entrapped patient using battery-operated tools within five minutes. Three separate AirLife helicopters were dispatched to transport three patients – the driver of the Honda and passenger of the Ford were flown to Atlanta Medical Center, and one of the passengers in the Honda was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. The driver of the Ford was also transported Tanner Medical Center, and the other passenger of the Honda was transported to Egleston by ground ambulance.

Emergency units were on scene for 45 minutes, Harmon said.

Social media reports indicated that the driver of the Honda was in critical condition as of Thursday night.
