Lake Hills home damaged by house fire

A home in the Lake Hills neighborhood north of Newnan was extensively damaged Monday after a fire started in the home’s garage.

Around 3:40 p.m., the Coweta County Fire Department was dispatched to 30 Red Bud Trail in reference to a garage fire, said Assistant Fire Chief Mitch Coggin.

According to reports, while children who lived at the house were playing outside, one child noticed smoke coming from the garage. Upon opening the door, the garage area erupted in flames, and the child immediately went to a neighbor who then contacted Coweta 911.
