A convicted felon and sex offender was arrested Wednesday after authorities with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office searched his home and found a large number of various narcotics in his possession.

Around 5 p.m., investigators with the sheriff’s office’s Crime Suppression Unit, under lead investigator Matt Williams, served a search warrant at the 164 Franklin Highway home of Jeremy Lee Dean, 27, said Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the sheriff’s office. According to Yarbrough, investigators obtained the warrant after learning from a confidential informant Dean was allegedly selling LSD – Lysergic Acid Diethylamide – out of his home.

However, during their search, investigators did not find any LSD because Dean appeared to have sold out, Yarbrough said. Instead, they found a large amount of other illegal narcotics – a total of 1,958 Xanax pills, 165 ecstasy pills, 17 grams of mushrooms and five ounces of marijuana.

They also found two firearms – a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber pistol and a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun, and investigators seized $772 in cash found in Dean’s pockets.

Because Dean was a convicted felon, he was charged with both possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. And he was charged with a felony possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of narcotics and possession of narcotics with intent to distribute – Xanax. Dean was transported to the Coweta County Jail.
