Chattahoochee Bend workday Saturday

The next volunteer day at Chattahoochee Bend State Park will be for work on the hiking trails this Saturday, June 7, at 8:45 a.m., followed by the annual meeting of the Friends of Chattahoochee Bend State Park.

The annual meeting kicks off at 1 p.m. at the riverside pavilions. There will be a cookout and lots of information on what has been going on at the park and with the friends organization. The cookout begins at 1 with the meeting business beginning at 1:30.

All Friends members are invited to join the meeting.

The friends organization and volunteers have been responsible for building all of the trails at the state park, as well as lots of other work. Work recently began on mountain bike trails, and equestrian trails are in the future.

Volunteer workdays are held regularly. But if you can’t make the scheduled work days, there are still plenty of opportunities to help out around the park.

And coming up June 25 in downtown Newnan is the Chattahoochee Bend River Fest, with a variety of activities.

For more information about the Friends of Chattahoochee Bend and volunteer activities, visit www.bendfriend.com or call the park office at 770-254-7271.
