Emergency responders investigate an accident that claimed the life of Michael Allen Naber, 55, Saturday on Fischer Road.

One driver lost his life and another was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident on Fischer Road in north Coweta County late Saturday.

Around 9:53 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Fischer Road and Westminster Village Boulevard to find one vehicle lying on its side in the middle of the road and the other upright in a ditch, said Assistant Chief Mitch Coggin with the Coweta County Fire Department.

Both drivers were entrapped in their vehicles, and the driver of the vehicle in the ditch, Michael Allen Naber, 55, was found dead upon arrival. Fire crews from Stations 1, 7 and 12 worked to extricate the other driver, Robert Charles Diaz, 34, from his vehicle, and he was transported to the campus of Northgate High School, where a helicopter picked him up and flew him to Atlanta Medical Center, Coggin said.

According to Tracey Watson with the Georgia State Patrol, Diaz was traveling northbound on Fischer Road when his vehicle crossed over into the path of Naber's vehicle traveling southbound.

The accident is still being investigated by authorities with the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team. Fischer Road was closed from 10 p.m. to 1:45 a.m.
