New form of meth in electronic cigarettes?

by Wes Mayer

Two men were arrested last week with a narcotic substance that authorities in the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office have never seen before.

Testing is not complete on the substance, but, at this point, investigators have determined the methamphetamine substance is meant to be smoked using electronic cigarettes, said Lt. Col. Jimmy Yarbrough with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.

Around 1:23 p.m. on May 8, Sgt. Jeff Bugg made a traffic stop on Ga. Highway 85 in Senoia, Yarbrough said. The two passengers in the vehicle were identified as Keith Brian Furlong, 21, and Tony Aubrey Norris Jr., 22, and after receiving permission to search the vehicle, Bugg found a baggie containing several small brown, spongy, gelatinous cubes, Yarbrough said.

The substance tested positive for methamphetamine, Yarbrough said, and it was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s crime lab for further testing. Furlong and Norris were both charged with possession of methamphetamine and were transported to the Coweta County Jail.
