A Newnan man was arrested Thursday after Meriwether County authorities found and seized more than two and a half pounds of marijuana from his business in Greenville.

Around 3 p.m., authorities with the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office and Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at Jackson’s Stop and Shop on the 2600-block of Primrose Road in Greenville. According to a statement from the sheriff’s office, authorities found two pounds, 11 ounces of marijuana and a .380 caliber handgun which turned out the be stolen from Coweta County.

Authorities then located the store’s owner, Sergio Samson Jackson, 26, at his home on the 1100-block of Wedgewood Circle in Newnan. According to Meriwether authorities, Jackson was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a forearm during the commission of a crime and theft by receiving stolen property. He was transported to the Meriwether County Jail but will later be transported to the Coweta County Jail to face further charges.

“The gun, drug scales and paraphernalia and a portion of the drugs that was ready for sale was located behind the counter at the store,” said Meriwether County Sheriff Chuck Smith in the prepared statement. “A large volume of the marijuana was hidden on the store property. Jackson was making this store a one stop and shop location.”
