School bus involved in accident

by Wes Mayer

A Coweta County School System bus was involved in a three-vehicle accident Monday, and there were no injuries among the occupants.

Around 4:20 p.m., a vehicle driven by an East Coweta High School student hydroplaned on the slick road and collided with two other vehicles near the intersection of Highway 154 and Terrentine Street in Sharpsburg, said Dean Jackson, public information officer with the school system. One of the other vehicles was a school bus transporting 12 East Coweta Middle School students.

According to Jackson, the high school student’s vehicle struck the rear tire and bumper of the bus and then ran into another vehicle behind the bus. Jackson said all the students on the bus and the other drivers were checked by emergency responders, and there were no injuries reported.

The school bus was traveling to East Coweta High School to pick up more students when the accident occurred, Jackson said.
