A 17-year-old man was charged with murder Monday after his uncle passed away in the hospital.

Around 8:15 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to the 300-block of Sylvan Loop in reference to a domestic dispute, according to Lt. Mike Whitlow with the police department. There, they found David John Quincy III with multiple stab wounds.

Quincy was transported to the Atlanta Medical Center, where he later died, Whitlow said.

With the evidence at the scene and information from witnesses, detectives with the police department were led to Quincy’s nephew, Mustafa Mahdi, 17. Quincy apparently came to the residence offering to help Mahdi and allow Mahdi to live with him, but the two got into an argument and Mahdi allegedly began to stab his uncle, Whitlow said.

Mahdi was charged with malice murder, felony murder and aggravated assault, and he was transported to the Fayette County Jail, Whitlow said.
