Horne announces candidacy for Coweta BOE

Jan Horne, a Coweta County businesswoman, announced her candidacy for the Coweta County School Board this week.

“I want to be an advocate for open and accountable school board meetings and budgeting where any parent or taxpayer can come to a board meeting and discuss anything they want and be respected and feel that their voice will be heard and their opinions welcomed,” Horne said in a prepared statement.

Since 1998, Horne has owned Fayetteville-headquartered Studio 25 Productions, a professional videographer company which specializes in wedding videos, corporate training videos and more. Horne has also produced the East Coweta High School football show for the last eight years.

Horne has been married to her husband Michael for 34 years. They have two children and three grandchildren, two of whom will be entering Coweta County schools in the next few years. According to Horne, through producing the East Coweta football show, she saw how great the people were here and chose to make this her home.

“As a parent you want to have access to those who are over your children,” Horne said. “I want you to have the freedom to do what is needed for your particular child. As a parent who homeschooled for eight years and saw a son graduate from Landmark and a daughter graduate from Fayette County High School, I know what it means to be involved in the education of your children.”

Citizens with questions, comments, or who wish to volunteer and get involved with the campaign are encouraged to email JanForSchoolBoard@gmail.com , or call 678-873-5812.
