13 Stories, cell tower hearings on agenda
by Sarah Fay Campbell
Public hearings on the removal of conditions for 13 Stories Haunted House, and a permit for a cell phone tower at 179 Old Corinth Road, are on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting of the Coweta County Board of Commissioners.
The commission meeting is held at 6 p.m. in the county commission chambers on Perry Street.
Allyn Glover has asked for changes to the special use permit that allows 13 Stories Haunted House, featuring Horror Hill, to operate at 300 Temple Avenue, in a portion of the old Playtex facility.
Glover is requesting the removal of the condition that limits operation to the Halloween season, and an extension of the allowed operating hours.
Glover is also requesting the removal of a requirement that a deputy block access to the Red Acres subdivision during peak hours. There are concerns that the requirement violates the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and Coweta Sheriff Mike Yeager has stated that it can’t deny access to a public road.
The planning department is recommending approval.
AT&T is seeking a permit to erect a 150 foot telecommunications tower at 179 Old Corinth Road. The tower would be 524 feet off the road, on a 10-acre parent tract.
Other items on the agenda include:
• Discussion of a proposed ordinance related to swimming pools, spas and hot tubs.
• A discussion of decentralized wastewater treatment network systems.
